CODE BLUE was born in 2013, named after the emergency medical code from "Code Blue". We hope many people interested in the development of a safe and sound networked society would gather together and discuss ideas.

In the environment surrounding the information security that changes from moment to moment with the development of information and communication technology, we -CODE BLUE- have always encouraged "Innovative" and "Creative" papers regarding Information Security research to be presented to spark open discussions about their topics and shed light on the research. This year we would like to invite papers that cover not only "Technical" aspects, but also topics regarding legal, policies, economics, psychology and others aspects of information security research and its relation to society in general.

Also, we are planning to offer a research and development incentive for a selected Youth Track speaker. We hope that this will be an encourage for more young people to become interested in information security as a profession.

  • 1.

    CODE BLUE is seeking submissions on any topic related to cybersecurity. Depending on your submission, please choose a suitable category from the following: Technology, General, Cybercrime, Law & Production, Bluebox, Community, and Youth (under 25 years old).
    - Technical sessions --- Technical topics in cybersecurity
    - General sessions --- Topics covering all aspects of cybersecurity
    - Youth sessions --- Special sessions for authors under 25 years old
    - Counter Cyber Crime sessions -- Any topics related to fighting cybercrime
    - Law & Policy sessions -- Any topics related to Law & Policy in cybersecurity
    - Bluebox sessions -- Open source tools, projects, and communities, etc.,
    - Community sessions --- Introduction of interesting communities

  • 2.

    We have a [U25]Youth Track. Applicant must be at age of 25 or younger as of October 26 2024. To apply for CFP of Youth Track, write your age in the age field. We may ask your identification to verify your age. We have a special R&D support fund (or scholarship) for up to 500,000 JPY per a person for the excellent youth speakers selected by the review committee. Please refer to CFP/U25 page for the past Youth Track speakers and their outstanding sessions.

  • 3.

    We accept submissions for talks in either in English or Japanese.

  • 4.

    If we select your talk based on your submissions we will also consider other languages to present into however please inform us in the Language fields on what language you plan to present in.

  • 5.

    Basic presentation length is about 45 minutes.

  • 6.

    CODE BLUE does not accept product or vendor related sales pitch type talks.

  • 7.

    All presentations must be submitted by the original authors.

  • 8.

    We urge you to submit your talk topics early before the CFP closes since we will close the CFP prior to the closing date if enough quality submissions are received to fill the slots.

SPEAKER BENEFITS

  • 1.

    Honorarium:
    - For Technical/General/Counter Cyber Crime/Law & Policy sessions - 75,000 JPY as the honorarium for your presentations.
    - For Bluebox/Community sessions - 10,000 JPY as the honorarium for your presentations.
    - For Youth sessions - The outstanding speaker selected by the review committee will be awarded a research grant for up to 500,000 JPY.

  • 2.

    Free entrance for CODE BLUE 2024
    - You can enjoy the whole CODE BLUE 2024.
    - Party -- FUll access to the Speaker/CIP party and networking party.
    - Gift -- A special gift for all speakers presenting at our conference.

  • 3.

    Travel cost
    - We cover the travel cost for a speakers per a session(except Bluebox and Community).
    -- Oversea : We will cover basic airfare of the best price round coach class seat and the accommodation of three nights during the conference.
    -- Domestic : We cover the travel cost. For speakes from the long distanc, we provide accomodation of three nights during the conference.
    - Please note that if you are unable to come to Japan due to the Japanese government's strict COVID-19 travel restrictions, we can arrange an online presentation for you.

AFTER YOUR PROPOSALS PASSED

  • 1.

    Your presentation should be both in English and Japanese. It is desirable if speakers can prepare them in both, however, we will help you for the translation. Please let us know if you need our translation beforehand.

  • 2.

    After your proposal has been accepted, we ask to send us abstract, speaker bio and speaker photo for the talks program and web site.

  • 3.

    Final Slide Submission by September 30th, 2024October 20th, 2024.

  • 4.

    For those who live overseas and cannot come to the venue, we recommend pre-recording the lecture video to avoid the network problems and time differences issues. If possible, please send the video of your presentation by October 10, 2024.

CODE BLUE CFP Guideline

The CODE BLUE CFP Review Board is a group of international security professionals and thought leaders covering all aspects of the information security industry and community. The review board reviews all submissions to determine the content for the CODE BLUE talks and training sessions. Each submission is evaluated on the uniqueness, social importance and novelty of the content presented and expertise. The CODE BLUE talks has different tracks for different type of topics to cover all aspects of matters related to information and cyber security. The review board will review all submissions for all tracks, but each track will have expert advisors supporting the review board in reviewing the submissions.

The basics

    Make your abstract clear and concise.

  • 4.

    Clearly communicate what it is you are presenting.

  • - What problem are you pointing out?
  • - Do you offer any solutions ?
  • - Explain any expert knowledge requiring concepts / information.

Example：

In this presentation I plan to present unique OSINT (Open Source Intelligence ) methods that will help in the Threat hunting process. Threat hunting is the process of proactively searching one’s organization network to find threats. My presentation will help IT managers and security professionals in implementing a threat hunting model for their organization and maximizing the efficiency of their model .

Presentation Outline (Optional):

  • - Clearly convey the progression of your talk.
  • - The outline should present the whole presentation.
  • - Include details for each section of your presentation.
  • - Include details for each section of your presentation.
  • - What do you plan to present in each section.
  • - (Optional) include references to other material that will be helpful in reviewing your submission.

What makes a good submission?

  • - Your submission presents your whole presentation and not just parts of it.
  • - If your topic requires a strong knowledge about a certain subject, take the time to explain the details. Don’t assume the review board will take the time to research your topic area in order for them to understand your submission.
  • - Details matter.
  • - Don’t skip on how you got to your conclusion/solution.
  • - Is your submission unique ?
  • - If so how is it unique ?
  • - Don’t submit submissions what explain other’s work.
  • - Explain what attendees will learn or can take away from your presentation.

    • Example：

    • - Are you proposing a new solution to a problem?
    • - What are 3 things the attendees can immediately implement in their work or research ?
  • - Make sure your presentation flows naturally.

    • Example：

    • -Don’t submit 190 slides and plan to jump around your presentation to present your research.
